American journalists visit AIOU to promote partnership

ISLAMABAD, DEC 05 (DMN) - American journalists visit AIOU to promote partnership. A six-member delegation of American journalists and academicians visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) here on Thursday under US-Pakistan Professional partnership program.

It was aimed at promoting mutual cooperation and sharing expertise and experience, particularly in the field of Mass Communication. 

 

The delegation was led by a leading American journalist Dr. Joe Foote, who is currently working as Dean Emeritus of the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The member of the delegation included Durrie Bouscaren, David Fritze, Taylor Newcomb and Dick Pryor, who were representing print and electronic media in the United States, besides the Oklahoma University, USA.

During the visit, the delegation held detailed discussion with the senior officials and academicians of the AIOU, including Dean, Faculty of Education Dr. Nasir Mahmood,  Registrar Dr. Muhammad Zaigham Qadeer, Director Regional Services Inamullah Shiekh, Dean Social Sciences Dr. Samina Awan and Chairman Department of Mass Communication Dr. Saqib Riaz.

American journalists visit AIOU to promote partnership

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Nasir Mahmood said the AIOU was consistently engaged in developing its partnership with national and international institutions to upgrade its learning practices for the benefit of its 1.4 million students across the country.

The AIOU will welcome its mutual inter-exchanges with Oklahoma University,  particularly in the field of media studies, he added.

The leader of the American delegation Dr. Joe said he was highly impressed by the worth-mentioning contribution of the AIOU in the field of education.

He added, it was the University’s honour that it was being led by Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum who possesses high academic standing and to whom he always found committed to the cause of education.

Dr. Joe also talked about his experience, working with various other Pakistani Universities in promoting collaborative partnership and enhancing academic discourse.=DMN
