ISLAMABAD, OCT 27 (DMN) - The High Commission of India in Pakistan has arranged a firework ceremony to mark Diwali Festival in Islamabad.

On the occasion Ajay Bisaria the High Commissioner of India extended Happy Diwali greetings to his nation and colleagues.

While celebrating he expressed desire that may the festival of lights bring happiness, good health, and prosperity to all! May the lighting  of lamps symbolize the lighting of the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.

The Festival of Lights sees the Hindu, Jaims Sikh and some Buddhist communities celebrate new beginnings and good (or light) triumphing over evil (or darkness).

Indian High Commission Islamabad The lead-up to the festival is often marked by the renovations and cleaning of homes and work spaces to prepare for the festivities that mark the festival itself.

The date of the festival is usually in October or November but is dependent on the calendar known as Tithi, which depends on lunar patterns.

The Festival of Lights is celebrated in a number of exciting and colourful ways. There are usually street parties and festival events, with a focus on special delicacies and snacks for the occasion.

An important component, however, is the lighting of traditional earthen diyas (candles) for the celebration.

It is the Festival of Lights after all! Due to the focus on colours and lights also expect there to be fireworks as those celebrating put on the biggest show to celebrate good triumphing over evil.=DMN

Uzbek envoy briefs media about upcoming parliamentary elections


TASHKENT, OCT 15  – Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqat Sidikov during a media talk has informed regarding upcoming parliamentary elections being held on December 22.

Five officially registered political parties, the National Revival Party, the People’s Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Social Democratic Party Adolat and the Ecological Party will compete for 150 seats in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan (the lower house of the parliament.
